Contemplative Journey to the Sacred Sites of Peru

Namaste Friends,

Please join us on a contemplative journey to the sacred sites of Peru. This is a unique opportunity to combine world travel, spiritual practice and social-engagement. Our destinations include the old Inca capital of Cusco and the Inca's Sacred Valley, and culminate in the wonder-of-the-world sanctuary of Matchu Picchu. Along the way we will meet with local peoples, dialogue with shamans about their ancestral wisdom and engage in a social service project to build lasting ties with the indigenous community.

The core of our sojourn involves contemplative practice facilitated by daily, guided meditations, yoga and spiritual teachings conducted in and around sites of mystical power and unimaginable landscapes. Emily Wolf, Ph.D. candidate is a psychotherapist and certified yoga instructor will lead our daily yoga practice. My aim is to teach the Buddhist art and
science of inner peace and happiness, while we engage in culturally conscious, mutually enriching and sustainable foreign travel. The trip is suitable for all levels of practitioner, from beginners eager to start a meditation practice to those seasoned yogis looking to expand their horizons and put their yoga into action.

The trip is organized by Dr. Hune Margulies, the Director of the Community Development Partners for Americas (CDPA). Dr. Margulies has organized community and economic
development projects and led tours to indigenous and rural areas of Latin America for study, cultural, solidarity and ecological purposes for over 20 years. Dr. Margulies has kindly invited me to lead the contemplative portion of our journey, while he manages logistics. His sensitivity to cultural preservation and social justice throughout the region coupled with his
expertise in tour operations were the reasons I agreed to lead this tour. Together I am confident we can provide an unforgettable journey.

As part of our sustainable travel, a portion of the proceeds from the excursion will go towards much needed supplies and labor for the service project that we will assist with while in Peru.

The trip will run from December 15 to December 23, including two days of travel and eight nights on the ground in Peru, features the following activities.

• Morning yoga and guided meditation
• Buddhist teachings and discussion conducted at sacred sites
• Visit to the old city of Cusco
• Two days to explore and meditate at wondrous Matchu Picchu
• Tour of the ancient Inca power places of the Sacred Valley
• Visit and communal meal with an indigenous community

• Meeting and practices with local shamans
• Indigenous arts and crafts workshop
• Hikes to view-sites and awe-inspiring landscape
• Indigenous music and dance presentation
• Cultural and Archeological tour in the capital city of Lima

The cost of the trip will be USD $2,385, and includes:

• Round trip flight Lima-Cusco.
• Eight nights hotel, 3-4 star accommodations.
• All internal transfers and ground transportation.
• Three daily meals and snacks.
• Round trip Cusco-Matchu Picchu.
• All group cultural, archaeological and entrainment activities.
• All other group tours and tour guides as needed.
• A financial contribution to a specific indigenous social-service project
in Peru.

I very much hope that you can join us on this marvelous and unique journey to Peru. We aspire to create a multi-dimensional travel experience, complementing extraordinary sightseeing with contemplative practice, social service and cultural exchange. Ultimately, you should return home from this adventure with much more than photographs and memories, rather a set of practices for continued balance of mind and body as well as a restored sense of human connection and possibility.

May we all think of benefiting others,
